DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Periodontia –is christened from the phraseology “Peripheral + Dontia“which literally encompasses all structures peripheral to the tooth. Periodontia does have a ubiquitous role in Dental care emphasizing the importance of Oral Health maintenance, the accent being more on the preventive rather than curative.

Our department was initiated in the year 2005 for undergraduate students and 2014 with postgraduate students that aims to serve and propagate the afore mentioned definition in addition, to specific treatment which caters to the generic Oral Health of the public by offering basic preliminary treatment and also integrates seamlessly with all other departments in the myriad facets of oral maintenance. Our department is the hub around which the entire dentistry revolves.

The Department has on its corporate objective, the firm commitment to produce/train budding dentists in the best traditions of medical schooling. In addition to pure professional competence, the students are encouraged to develop ethical practices having in mind the interests of the patient and the community at large.
