DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION


Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is well built with all infrastructures as per DCI norms in and around areas of 7500 square feet with well-equipped undergraduates clinic, Post Graduates Clinic , Minor OT , Emergency & recovery room with capable of handling more than 100 out patients and 10 Minor surgeries per day .

Department rendering maxillofacial surgical care to most of the rural and urban population with well experienced faculties trained in specialties like minor surgery , maxillofacial trauma , Orthognathic surgery , Maxillofacial Pathology , oral oncology , TMJ Surgeries and cleft lip and palate surgeries

Department of maxillofacial surgery is attached to 1000 bedded multi-specialty Adhiparasakthi medical college Hospitals ( MAPIMS ) with all facilities where OMFS Unit have separate male and female surgical ward , special ward , intensive care unit, causality with 24 x 7 ambulance service facilities With eminent teachers department provides training to the undergraduates, Interns and postgraduates in clinical and academic excellences as per DCI& TN DR .MGR Medical University norms

Our vision is to provide a comprehensive and conducive environment that trains future dental and oral &maxillofacial surgeons in basics and advanced surgical care.

To train the undergraduates and postgraduates in subjects enriched with sound academic and clinical knowledge

To be an effective tertiary maxillofacial trauma care center to rural population.

To be a center of excellence in research with outcomes in par with international standards.

To offer advanced Specialty care services in Oral oncology and cleft lip and palate surgery with NABH standard.
To serve the people and remain a trusted institutional hospital for the people of this locality and beyond.

MISSION:

Department will guide the students and improve the ability to think, logically explain and to make a firm clinical decision based on sound scientific background. Stand apart and to become a successful practitioner

Impart knowledge to students in a positive way enabling them to apply the skills gained and to shine individually and as a team member.

Faculties are encouraged to undergo fellowship training in oral oncology and cleft and palate surgeries
Students and faculties are encouraged to participate in NABH training program to deliver high quality treatment

Students and faculties members are encouraged to start a high impact research activity as part of their academic career.

Faculties are encouraged and given opportunity to participate in faculty development program, research methodology workshop, international webinars and CDE programs

Research and Innovations are the corner stone for a teaching institution. In department of oral and maxillofacial surgery all faculty members and students are encouraged to actively participate in this regard.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND FACILITIES AVAILABLE

MINOR OT

Air Conditioned and Spacious Minor OT Equipped with all set of Minor Surgical Instruments, Electro Cautery and Emergency kit etc. which facilities constant performance of minor surgical procedures under local anesthesia in Aseptic Environment 

CGF MACHINE

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) , Concentrated growth factor of Autologous platelet concentrates used for regenerative procedures in oral cavity and cosmetic procedure by centrifugal machine.

WELL EQUIPED ANATOMY DISSECTION LAB ATTACHED WITH MEDICAL COLLEGE

Dissection hall is spacious and well ventilated with adequate light source to accommodate more than 150 students. Cadavers are available adequately and the students will be motivated to develop their skill in dissection so as to understand the intricacy of human body architecture.
The students will also be provided with prosected parts of head& neck and the entire faculty will engage the students during practical session.


MALE & FEMALE ORAL & MAXILLOFACIAL SURGICAL GENERAL WARD

Spacious and well ventilated separate oral & maxillofacial surgical male and female   ward with electronically operating bed for patient with nursing station in individual cubicle

 

SEMI SPECIAL WARD & SPECIAL WARD

Air conditioned spacious special ward and semi special ward with well-furnished Room.

 

OPERATION THEATRE

Modular operation theatre with electronically adjustable operating table and advanced Anaesthetic equipment’s where oral & maxillofacial surgical procedures are carried out in aseptic environment.

   

MICROVASCULAR RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

Microvacular reconstructive surgery is performed using operating microscope , specialized surgical instruments and tiny needles and ultra-fine sutures for various oral & maxillofacial reconstructive procedures.

FRESH FROZEN SECTION

Fresh frozen section facility is available with advanced cryostat equipment’s which helps in real time margin control of a surgical specimen during oral oncological surgical procedures.

INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a separate, self-contained area within a medical facility, equipped with high-tech specialized facilities designed for close monitoring, rapid intervention and often extended treatment for the patients.

 

CASUALTY & EMERGENCY TRAUMA CARE CENTRE

Spacious and Air conditioned casualty and emergency room with well-trained medical emergency and para medical team handling medical emergencies and trauma patients
